Behavioural Therapy
Psychologists commonly use behavioural therapy to help patients recover from various conditions, from anxiety and excessive phobias to obsessive-compulsive disorder and many more. This type of therapy involves gradual exercises to face stressful and otherwise problematic situations.
Additionally, your psychologist may suggest other forms of therapy based on your needs and preferences.
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT): Works on behaviours and thoughts simultaneously, often to treat anxiety, depression, and phobias.
- Psychodynamic therapy: Explores the unconscious mind, past experiences and relationships to better understand difficulties and turn them into opportunities,
- Humanistic therapy: Focuses on listening, acceptance and development of one’s potential.
- Systemic psychotherapy: Focuses on family or romantic relationships and their inherent dynamics.
- Mindfulness-based therapy: Facilitates stress and emotion management through awareness of the present moment.
